Mozy backup problem — an acknowledgement

MozyI could *nearly* set my watch to the interval between my response to Mozy, and the reply from them. I responded to them on July 2nd, and I received a reply last night at 11:42pm, nearly 2 days difference. That has been how things have been going — I respond, 2 days later, a reply. I respond, 2 days later, a reply… At least I now know how long I need to wait.

Anyway, it seems that some head way is being made here with my “Disk full (FilesystemError3)” problem.

Here’s the latest reply from tech support, aknowledging a problem:

Hello, and thank you for contacting Mozy technical support,

We have begun implementing a resolution to the issue you were experiencing. It may take up to two weeks until it is fully implemented. Please continue performing backups and you will start seeing fewer amounts of connection errors. If there is anything we can do for you please let me know. You will also want to increase the number of times Mozy performs backups to help speed up the process of completing your backup set. Please change your Mozy to automatic backups with these settings:

99% Don’t back up if CPU is more then % busy.

1 Don’t back up unless the computer has been idle for at least this long (minuets).

12 Don’t back up more then this many times per day.

This will increase the percentage of your back up set uploading to our servers.

If there is anything we can do for you please let me know.

My settings are all more conservative than what is recommended. I don’t back up if my CPU is more than 60% busy, I only back up if the computer is idle for 15 minutes or more, and I only back up at most twice a day. Those recommended settings might help some others, but not me.

I’ll update again when there are more interesting developments.

Here’s the trail of carnage, if you’re just tuning in:
