Photographer Harold Davis over at O’Reilly Digital Media has posted a blog entry about a studio photo he took of some Hydrangea flowers using a flatbed scanner and a Nikon D300, and I think it came out wonderfully.

In fact, I’m inspired to try it out myself when my Hydrangeas bloom. I guess it’s slower blooming up here in the Pacific Northwest possibly due to rainy weather.

In particular, I like how the double exposure add luminescence to the image by giving it an ethereal effect. The black background also adds to the contrast of the image.
